Meet Dr Dharshen Naicker

Dr Naicker is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon in Midrand and Sunninghill with a special interest in hand and upper limb surgery. He is committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centred care, helping patients regain movement, reduce pain and return to the activities they enjoy.

Dr Naicker completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Cape Town in 2008. He graduated with an MBChB degree, earning a distinction in the Pre-Clinical Examinations, the Clinical Examinations, and the Final Clinical Examinations, and was awarded his degree with First Class Honours.

He began his career in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2011 as a medical officer in KwaZulu-Natal before relocating to Johannesburg in 2016 to undertake specialist Orthopaedic Surgery training at the University of the Witwatersrand.

During his specialist training, Dr Naicker gained extensive experience in the management of Orthopaedic Conditions and was awarded the Registrar Prize by the WITS Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. In 2019, Dr Naicker qualified as an Orthopaedic Surgeon after successfully completing both the Fellowship of the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons and his Master of Medicine (MMed) in Orthopaedic Surgery.

Following his specialist qualification, he completed an advanced fellowship in Hand Surgery at the University of the Witwatersrand. After successfully completing the fellowship in 2020, he was invited to remain at the university as a Specialist Hand Surgeon, further strengthening his expertise in the management of complex hand and upper limb conditions.

He is also a member of the South African Orthopaedic Association and the South African Society for Surgery of the Hand.
